The founder of Diesel jeans takes us round his pad
Renzo Rosso is the founder of Diesel jeans and the godfather of high fashion denim, but surprisingly his natural habitat isn't in the boutiques of chi chi Milan, but on a remote hill top farm in North East Italy.
Born and brought up in the Veneto region, Renzo was determined that the farm and its lands should be saved, rather than divided up and sold as building plots. Standing on the terrace at the back of the farmhouse, Renzo points to the boundaries of the estate.
"It has now been designated a National Park and I am proud of that," he says. "I was born on a farm, I’m a farmer guy so this is going back to my roots."
Unlike the fast seasonal turnaround of the fashion business the farm, which he bought in 1994, took years of planning and patience to restore.
